IT’S TIME TO FEEL MORE AT EASE.

Deborah Soares, LCSW

You're here because you want to feel more relaxed, comfortable and secure. I’m here to help!

Welcome! I’m Debbie Soares, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in therapy for Anxiety and Trauma. So glad you stopped by to visit my site as you begin your healing journey.

I’m passionate about helping people develop skills and deeper insight so they can tackle life’s challenges with less stress. I’d love to help you experience relief from the symptoms that led you to consider therapy.

You may be tired of overthinking, second-guessing everything, having unpredictable emotions and dealing with physical reactions to anxiety or trauma. Or maybe you’re a parent of an anxious teen and aren’t sure how to help them cope. You’ve tried to manage but haven’t found what works - yet. You’re ready to see some real change!

Because you know that it’s hard to feel better without some support and guidance, you’ve taken the brave step to try therapy. You need to feel accepted and supported, while you start this process of change. Having a therapist who can be real with you and who you can just be yourself with is important. Whether you need to cry, laugh or cuss (or maybe all three) I am there with you. You need a partner to support you on your healing journey.

You’re in the right spot.

HEre’s what I believe about therapy:

This isn't about becoming someone "different."

Therapy will help you understand and accept all the parts of yourself - even the ones you find difficult. In therapy you can show up just as you are. You won’t need to sensor what you say during sessions. You’ll still be you but with new strategies, skills and insight for managing challenges.

Investing in yourself can be hard but it’s worth it.

You may be more focused on taking are of others, but you deserve effective support. When we take time to care for ourselves, we’re also able to show up for others in positive ways. Therapy can help you work through difficulties with less stress so you can do what’s important to you and thrive.

Healing is possible, even when it seems out of reach.

Sometimes when people enter therapy, they don’t feel very hopeful. When we approach our challenges with curiosity instead of fear, we can learn so much. I help my clients develop self-compassion and coping skills to increase feelings of hope that change is not only possible but within reach.

How I work

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that we all have the capacity to grow through the painful places and experience more joy.

As a therapist practicing for over 30 years and long-time working mom of two (now adult) kids, I understand first-hand how difficult it can be when life gets busy and worrying takes center stage. I believe there’s no one-size fits all approach to therapy and offer a holistic understanding of wellbeing with therapy targeted to each person’s unique needs. If you’re looking for new ideas or feel like nothing has worked in the past, I can help you find what works for you.

I believe my clients are the expert of their own experiences and I’ll work to help you learn to trust your own wisdom. Therapy is a place to discover more about yourself and develop more ease in managing life’s struggles. As we work together, we can move past the challenges you’re facing now to create transformation. I’m here to support you as you discover what works best for you.

When people feel comfortable in therapy, they tend to see the best results. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for you to explore your challenges and just be yourself. If you’re ready to actively tackle your challenges, therapy can really help. This may mean practicing skills you learn between sessions or trying out new ways to care for yourself. We’re likely to have some fun together, even though at times we may be discussing hard or painful topics.

As a certified yoga and mindfulness teacher I incorporate mind/body techniques for clients who are interested in exploring how these strategies might help them on their healing journey.

Over the course of my career, I’ve worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds in a variety of settings. These include inpatient and outpatient treatment, private practice, and intensive therapeutic programs.

Every day, I’m inspired by my clients! I feel fortunate to partner with them as they create the life they choose.
